About Us

         Wood is the oldest thing used as building material. Tribs ofBastar are used to make articles of Teak wood. So many rituals are directly with wooden artefacts.

              
Madia tribes of Bastar set up a wooden square column on the border of the village in memory of their esteemed ancestors. On which the important works done by them are represented in the form of carving. 
It says Madia Khamba (माड़िया खम्बा) (pole).

In the 1980s, Mr. Bhattacharya, who retired from the A.G. Audit Department in Jagdalpur.  At young age he have trained in making wooden blocks in Shantiniketan, Kolkata. Who made it artistically.
                       Even today, nearly 80% of artworks are based on his original design. We can say Mr. Bhattacharya patriarch of this art. He has trained many students by this art for 10-15 yrs.


Mrs. Madhuri Pandit and Mr R. V. Pandit took the training of bastar art in Year 1980. The couple has transferred to Bhopal after spending 19 years in Bastar. He trained many student in this art. They did not commercialize his art till date.



The art design are made in basically two types, original folk art style and modern style. Folk art style, depicting the lifestyle of the villages, Modern style, In it religious sculptures, signs and other types are made.

The carving is done mostly on teak wood. All the carving done by 100% hand tools. Any type of machines are not used at all.




                 We are the craftsman of Tribal art of Bastar, Chattisgarh. With 30 years of total experience in wood carving we have made lots of artworks. It includes carved motifs of animals, human figures, birds, floral designs, and tribal lifestyle. On the other hand we have also carved religious sculptures, Name plates  and other modern artworks.


Here in Tribal's Craft we are proving artworks as per customer need and their own designs can also be prepared.
